This album of music for children was made to give to my grandkids. They live some distance away and I wanted them to have a CD of fun songs for kids to listen to. You might want to give this as a gift, or to have on hand when the grandkids come over. There are several story songs, and some with simple lyrics the kids will learn in no time. Mom's tell me they often hear their kids singing parts of the choruses around the house.

Grandpa Howard used to play live in Humboldt County, California but is not accepting bookings at this time.

  GRANDPA HOWARD'S SONGS FOR KIDS

12 original songs

written and recorded by Howard Lang

Once upon a time, some kids found an old-fashioned radio at Grandpa's house. Their Mother told them it was a Magic Music Machine. The lights on the dial started to glow and they heard faint music, which grew louder as they listened. Their Mom told them the radio had to "warm up". The music was fun and made them want to sing and dance. "That's the magic part," their mother said.

Does that story excite your imagination? This album can turn your stereo into a Magic Music Machine if you use your imagination. Listen and have fun. Sing along and enjoy the magic. The 12 songs on this album are real, presented to you with love, from Grandpa Howard.

"This album chronicles my journey into the adventure of home recording. With the exception of the last two, the songs are presented here in the order in which they were recorded. Improvements in production quality may be apparent as my experience has increased.

"Songs for Kids" is dedicated to my grandchildren. Their antics and adventures have given me inspiration for many of the songs."

"The inspiration for making a CD of these songs in the early 1990s was the folks at the 2090 PS-04 home recording forum*.  I thank them for encouragement and suggestions."

GHSFK Originally released with a four-panel cover booklet rather than a two-sided cover card, below is from the inside pages of the original booklet:

Big Brown Dog - The song tells a whimsical story about a family dog and his adventures. In a style which will remind you of Johnny Cash.

The Nickel - What would happen if a kid found a nickel? Would he spend it or save it? Lessons here for anyone.

Sunny Day - Absolutely inspired by a bright sunny day. Have fun.

Hey Hey Whatcha Doin - Mom's advice is not always followed. Mom knows best.

Bowling - When my grandkids visited, we took them bowling. This is the story.

Together Me and You - Participation song for adults and kids. Suitable for classroom or campfire.

Camping - You will probably hear the melody in your head for a while. Remember it the next time you think of going camping.

Train - A story song about railroads in the USA. Happy ending.

Look In The Air - My grandson came running into the house and urged me to go outside and see what he saw in the sky. A song about what we can see in clouds, if we use imagination.

Arithmetic - Learning numbers can be fun. Arithmetic is easy, simple and breezy, when you and me add one and two and three.

Questions - A call and response sing-along. Suitable for classroom or home, for two or more voices. I sing both parts in this version.

Advice - Probably understood more by the adults listening. Has the flavor of a classic country or folk ballad. In the style of Johnny Cash or Burl Ives or perhaps a cowboy singer.
